Civil Rights Paralegal

August 2009 – Early 2013

Law Office of Harvey S. Williams, Washington D.C.

I have cut my teeth on the legal process at this firm.  I did my best to obtain the evidence we needed and maintained good relationships with the people who helped me get it.  I investigated, analyzed and summarized. Being a paralegal isn’t just about legal research; it is about understanding what we need to win a case, finding it, and preparing it so that any jury can know what we know.

  • Analyzed raw evidence and created databases, chronologies, and profiles for trial in a civil rights firm
  • Obtain evidenced for cases in person and in writing, including conducting on-site investigations
  • Researched case law using Lexis and Westlaw; prepared legal pleadings and motions
  • Maintained several cases simultaneously, liaising frequently with clients, attorneys and experts
